Nissan Skyline R32 GTR (KEIKO) For Sale

History Of the Vehicle

Originally manufactured in Japan by Nissan in 1993. The car was a factory standard 280bhp N1 model. Around 2003/2004 the cars 2nd owner modified the vehicle to a nice fast road / track spec setup. In January 2006 I purchased the car from its owner in Japan.

New wheels and spoiler fitted

Built by Feast in Japan running 600hp it was a really nice road car, very responsive and powerful. At the time I used the car to promote an old Japanese Import Company I owned. It was quickly stickered up and attended a few shows creating great advertising for the company.

In 2006 / 2007 the UK was seeing huge surge in powerful Import cars, numourous tuners were running Demo cars and the whole scene was exciting. The R32 ran in a few RWYB drag events but a trip to the local race circuit, CROFT pave the course for the next stage of development. Circuit racing namely Time Attack.

In 2007 UK Time Attack was gaining popularity and was an ideal event to enter the Skyline. Obviously it needed some level of development and perpetration. This is where I put the car in the very capable hands of Mick Wade, former Touring Car builder & race setup specialist. Mick had previously won the BTCC with driver James Thompson while working at Fostek in York.

At the time Mick was also competing in Time Attack, driving another R32 GTR which was more developed producing 900hp, Mick competed in the Pro Class of Time Attack.

To get Keiko ready for Club Class Time Attack big changes was made, more weight reduction, suspension upgrade, Brake upgrade (R33 GTR Caliper with Performance Friction Floating Discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads, the engine had a big service and the car was sent down the Essex for a HKS Fcon pro map. The mapping session resulted in the need of a new clutch. A new race livery and it was ready.

It literally went all over the UK, shows, events, race days. The car performed so well all year, being the fastest car at most Time Attack events, getting through to the semi finals of the HKS drag series and growing in popularity as its was seen at all the events. The successful year of 2007 was the driving force behind the next stage of development with the GTR.

Lets build a Race Car

Club Class of Time Attack was good, its great for the average guy with a stage 1 modified car, however I wanted to go super fast and build a car capable of doing it. So back to Mick Wade for more development. The next 6 months we worked for nearly 24hrs straight building the car. Starting first with the strip down.

Please Note NO RUST

At no point did I encounter any rust

Once fully stripped to almost a bare shell, we moved delivered the R32 to Mick Wade who set about further strip down and specialist development work. Mick cut the floor out of the car, this was to allow for full flat floor, which would sit slightly lower too. Along with other weight reduction techniques Mick strengthened the chassis from a race pont of view.

Once fully stripped, including sub frames, engine loom, everything! The Skyline was transported to the paintshop. The car had undergone a big development, a new fiberglass Fenders had been source (vielside wide arch) so to save weight all the original rear quarters have been removed. Seeing it painted with the new body panels was very rewarding, it become apparent how fat it was.

After the shop it was transported back to the workshop where the car was rebuilt to as it stands today. The current build level & spec was completed late in 2008. Children really did derail this project, the arrival of my first in 2009, my second 2 years later and pretty much everything life can throw at you since, prevented me from finishing this build. It was always my intention to finish it and enter the car in Time Attack, Ideally at Silverstone. The car has sat in the corner of a Car Dealership Showroom ever since until very recently moving to a new location into dry storage.

I will do my best give the currently spec list although may get the odd thing wrong and will most certainly forget lots, I am happy to supply a video walk around and answer any question you may have. As you can appreciate with this advert I've been as transparent as possible.

To complete the chassis build, rear wheel arches need making up, brackets for petrol tank mount and protective frame. The floor is cut, need fitting, various areas will need plate shaping, cutting & fitting. rear boot lid needs fitting either on hinge or quick release, windows need fitting, needs bonnet repairing or replacement fitting.

That should just about complete the main chassis.

Internally it will need a dash fabricating (supplied with standard dash, already chopped) needs box section to cover gearbox area, fabrication of instrument cluster making. A firewall from rear fuel tank, surprisingly not much needs doing inside. Although we all know half a day can be lost quiet easily mounting a gauge sometimes and going forward it's down to personal preference.

Engine - RB26DET Modified

The engine currently in the car was fitted in 2008. The original engine got swapped with the engine from the Pro GTR that Mick Wade drove in Time Attack. This was for no other reason than it been a better engine. Originally this engine was built by Decide in Japan and had a T88 turbo fitted producing 550hp. It was in a GTR I bought back in 2004 to build a 10 second drag car. This car ran 10 seconds flat and was a really superb example and quite well known amongst the Ten Of The Best followers

The main reason behind the swap was I knew the engine, taking it from 550hp to a potential of 1000hp. Over a 3 year period Mick developed the engine considerably, it had a new head, which was port and polished and worked with a touch of Mick magic, brand new HKS 2.8 Stoker kit, Crank, Pistons, Rods etc. I opted for the TO4Z turbo which wasn't a monster like some Turbo's back then, it helped massively with turbo lag.

RB26DET HKS 2.8 Stroker, with all auxiliary, Large intercooler, Uprated radiator, Oil cooler, Turbo.

Fitted is brand new unused Carbonetic front diff, although the plan was to go fully RWD so I did intend to remove the sump and diff, converting back to RWD and fitting a new modified sump (possibility dry sump)

The engine hasn't run for over 10 years, it's got Millers oil and I don't doubt for one minute that it wont fire up.

However, I do expect teething problems, such as injectors, plugs, vacuum leak, etc etc

It has no wiring loom, my auto electrician has made a lighting loom. The engine was mapped with Autronic ECU, which will come with the car, Mapped by Mark Sheed (MADevelopments) the engine loomis complete to the ECU, it will need the lighting loom adding and an ignition loom of some description.

An R33 GTS (RWD) 5 speed gearbox is present, which I believe is working fine, its fitted with uprated gears, not sure if its OS Giken, It may well be, but cannot be sure. It might be that it needs new Os Giken up rated build. This has not yet been fitted, I have no gearbox mount. The T45 Tubbed cage is ready to accept a fabricated cradle to support the box, complete fixing mounts. (we intended to use a block of alley)

Any questions with regards the engine please ask and I will try to answer the best I can.

Suspension, will be needed, although the current suspension I found to be brilliant. Its currently got GAB fitted, firm with no much adjustment but a great ride, I felt allot of confidence when I was racing on it. The suspension has dropped on one shock though, I believe you can send them away to be refurbish, which is something to consider. Ultimately you'd probably fit new, at the time I had potential of suspension sponsorship.

It has quite a few other trick bits like thicker uprated driveshafts, (fronts will become redundant), Anti Roll bars. The rear diff is brand new Carbonetic (I think 99% sure) unused. Bride bucket seat in decent condition.

I have a large box with parts which will go with the car, most of which wants listing on ebay, trims, rubbers, etc etc. Some genuine Gandol mirrors.

Exhaust system, consisting of custom down pipe and screamer, full stainless, titanium exhaust.

The wheels are 3 piece custom made Image Alloys with brand new Toyo Tyres.

I have probably forgotten loads, although this advert took along time to make I don't think I've done the car much justice. Honestly I would keep it if I was in a better position to house it. My circumstances changed recently so storage is a problem. Time is also a huge factor, currently I've not got any time available to look at car never mind finish the build.

I don't think that much needs doing with it to finish it, I would start again though, fit new Superflex mounting bushes, powder coat the sub frames, buy some new suspension and adjustable arms etc, powder coat the drive shafts etc... Engine, good service, renew injectors, maybe buy a new plenum, fuel rail, get a new Turbo possibly. As it sits, all gaskets including the inlet gaskets are all new and not ran up yet.

Skill set required to finish this car, fabrication & electrical, most of everything else is done.

My aim was to build the worlds lightest R32 GT Track Car the target at the time was 1000KG.

Thank you for looking
